On September 28th, a series of signed articles by Professor Wang Qilong's research team were published on the 8th edition of Chinese Social Sciences Today, on the theme of "A New Journey of Building a New Modern Socialist Tibet". Altogether three articles were included, namely “Further Advancing the Scientific Research on the Tibetan Plateau” by Dr. Niu Haiyang, “Promoting the Integrated Development of Tibetan Culture and Tourism” by Dr. Pang Wei, and “Strengthening Research on Ethnic Minorities with Smaller Populations in Tibet” by doctoral student Zhao Yong.
President Xi Jinping delivered a speech when attending the CPC Central Committee's Seventh Symposium on Tibet-related Work from August 28 to 29. He reviewed achievements and experiences accumulated since the sixth symposium in 2015, examined the current landscape, and elaborated CPS's policies on governing Tibet in a new era and guiding principle of Tibet-related work. He also clarified objectives, policies, and strategies of Tibet-related work at present and for a period to come. Members of Prof. Wang's team of SIS of SNNU studied Xi's speech immediately and had a lively discussion on the topic.
The three signed articles point out that Tibet-related research must integrate theory with practice and focus more on problems in reality, based on in-depth analysis of scientific research on the plateau, integrated development of Tibetan culture and tourism, and ethnic minorities with smaller populations in Tibet respectively. These articles have contributed SNNU’s vision and strength to the cause of building a new modern socialist Tibet that is united, prosperous, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.
